Orff Schulwerk Levels at 密歇根州立大学丹佛

Orff Schulwerk certification is offered in conjunction with the American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA). This certification focuses on training music teachers to implement the creative music and movement approach developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. This approach is known for using instruments such as xylophone to improvise and compose music. Training includes recorder and movement classes.

What: Orff Schulwerk Levels I, II, III
Note: Level III is nearly full; only one spot left!

When: July 1-5 and 8-12, 2024, 8:30am-4:30pm daily

Cost: $950 before May 15, $1050 on or after May 16

A deposit (partial payment) can be made through the payment portal, if you are unable to make a full payment at this time. A deposit will also hold your position in the class, as they can fill to capacity. When you enter the payment portal, change the designated amount to the amount you can pay at this time.

Credit: 研究生 credit is available through Adams State. A link for payment and registration directly to Adams State will be available to those who are interested in 3-graduate credit hours. The cost for 3-graduate credit hours is $165.00.

Karen Petty Headshot

Karen Petty (Level I)

Karen Petty has been teaching Elementary Music and Movement for over 40 years and still enjoys it! She currently teaches music Kindergarten – 5th grade at Gold Rush Elementary School in Parker, Colorado and is on the DCSD Music 课程 Council. She also teaches adults in summer Orff Teacher Training programs. Education: BME University of Northern Colorado 1981; Orff Certification 1989 UNC; Masters in Education, 课程 & Instruction – Creative Arts in Learning Lesley College 1996. Karen is a past president of both the Rocky Mountain Orff Chapter and the New York City Orff Chapter. She served on the National 校董会 for the American Orff-Schulwerk Association as a Regional Representative and on the Executive Committee as Recording Secretary. She is currently the AOSA Treasurer.  Karen has presented at 8 AOSA national conferences and for many schools and Orff chapters.  She recently published Mostly Modal: Melodies with Movement and More through Beatin’ Path Publications.

Meg Tietz teaches K-5 movement and music at Saint 保罗 Academy in St. 保罗,明尼苏达州. Meg completed her Master of Arts Degree with a concentration in Orff Schulwerk at the University of St. 托马斯。. She is an active presenter for local and national workshops and conferences and teaches summer Orff Levels at Southern Methodist University, Metro State University, and the University of St. 托马斯。. Meg has served the American Orff Schulwerk association as a member of various subcommittees and also as a Trustee on the National Board.

保罗克里巴里 (Level III)

保罗克里巴里 – 保罗克里巴里, D.M.A. is the Assistant Director of 课程 and Instruction for the Cherry Creek School District in Colorado. Dr. Cribari received his MA with a concentration in Orff Schulwerk from the University of St. 托马斯。, and his doctorate in Music Education from Boston University. In addition to his work with children 保罗 teaches levels I, II, and III of Orff Schulwerk at SMU and Metropolitan State University of 丹佛. 保罗 is a regular clinician for local chapters of AOSA and has presented sessions at state and local conferences, as well as numerous national conferences of AOSA. Internationally, he has taught in Italy and Hong Kong. 保罗, along with co-author Richard Layton, recently published THE ELEMENTAL STYLE: A Handbook for Composers and Arrangers, 第二部分.

保罗 Hallsted is the Fine Arts Content Specialist for the Las Cruces Public Schools. He has been a music educator for 40 years, teaching all levels of students, which include pre-school, 小学, 中学, 高中, 和大学.  保罗 received his bachelor and master degrees from New Mexico State University. He teaches recorder in AOSA-approved summer teacher education courses at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Metropolitan State University in 丹佛 and University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. 保罗 has served AOSA as a Trustee on the National Board and as a member of various subcommittees.

Laura Bercaw Petersen (Movement and Course Director)

Laura Petersen teaches music in Washington, D.C. She holds Level III and Master Class certifications in Orff Schulwerk and has studied at the Orff Institut in Salzburg, 奥地利. Laura teaches movement in AOSA-approved levels courses and presents locally and nationally. In addition to serving on her local MAC-AOSA board, she served as Region IV Representative on the National 校董会 of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. She most recently served as the National Conference Chair for the 2021 AOSA Conference.

退款 of any type are subject to a 20% administration fee. If you need a refund processed, email the transaction number and reason for the refund to 卡拉Aguilar ((电子邮件保护)) to process the refund (at which time a 20% administration fee will be assessed). All refunds will be sent back to the credit card used to make the original payment and must be done within 30 days of the original transaction.  If a refund is needed after 30 days or for a deposit made in the Cashier Office you can contact 密歇根州立大学丹佛 Accounting Services to request a check. The university reserves the right to cancel a course if registration has not reached sufficient enrollment 10 class days before the first class session. In such cases, students are notified immediately and full tuition is refunded.
